CharacteristicYellowish crystalline powder ,odorless,moisture absorbent,the color will change gradually under the light/heat.
Freely soluble in ethanol,sparingly soluble in acetone,slightly soluble in acetic ether/hot water,practically insoluble inaether.
Indentification
1. Take a little ,dissolved in sulfuric acid,reddish brown yields.
2. Take a little ,dissolved in ethanol,add 1~2 drops ferric chloride into the solution,darkgreen yields.
Examine
Loss on drying: Take a sufficient quantity of the powder ,dried at 105 to constant weight,loss in weight is no less than 5%.(China Veterinary Pharmacopiea)
